Akron Trio Earns MAC Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors

MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
CLEVELAND, Ohio – University of Akron senior Lane Graham (Killbuck, Ohio), sophomore AJ Jordan (Columbus, Ohio) and senior Joy Nwokike (Benin City, Nigeria) were honored by the Mid-American Conference as its Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (March 25).
Graham collected Men's Field Athlete of the Week accolades, while Jordan earned Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors. Nwokike was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week.
Graham won the men's hammer at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge with a mark of 199-7 (60.83m). The effort is the top-rated throw in the MAC this season and No. 45 in the NCAA.
Jordan triumphed in the men's 200 meters in a time of 20.91 at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge. He also ran on winning 4x400 and runner-up 4x100 relays, while placing third in the 100 meters. His effort in the 200 meters in the top-rated time in the MAC and No. 25 effort in the NCAA this season.
Nwokike captured the title in the women's 200 meters in a time of 23.40 at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge, while besting the field in the 400 meters in a time of 54.17. She also ran legs on winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Her performance in the 200 meters is the top-rated time in the MAC and No. 13 in the NCAA, while her 400-meter effort also leads the league and is No. 28 in the NCAA.
