Fleiner Leads YSU Spring Invite, Zips Second Overall

Warren, Ohio – The Akron golf team fired a 306 (+18) opening round team score fueled by a 1-over par 73 by senior Abbi Fleiner at the YSU Spring Break Invite on Sunday.
Fleiner carded 13 par scores and a pair of birdies at the par-72, 5,902-yard Avalon Lakes Golf Course. She currently sits atop the players' leaderboard with the 1-over ledger with 18 holes of competition remaining.
Also landing in the Top 10 were sophomore Hridhika Vora and senior Jessica Hahn. Vora recorded a 76 (+4), while Hahn tallied a 78 (+6) initial 18-hole score. Vora currently ranks No. 6 on the leaderboard, while Hahn is tied for 10th.
Sophomore Avery Wright and freshman Katrin Horn Danielsdottir rounded out the Zips' scoring with 79 (+7) and 81 (+9) scores, respectively.
Akron ranks second overall as a team, trailing YSU by four strokes (+14, 302). Bucknell ranks third overall with a 313 (+25) ledger.
The final round is slated to start at 8 a.m. with tee times from holes No. 1 and 10. Danielsdottir will tee-off first for the Zips at 8:10 a.m., followed by Wright (8:20), Hahn (8:30), Vora (8:40) and Fleiner (8:50).
