Prieto Named MAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

MAC TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK RELEASE

CLEVELAND, Ohio - University of Akron track and field sophomore Oscar Prieto (Barcelona, Spain) was recognized by the Mid-American Conference as its Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday, March 22.

The Zips picked up weekly conference accolades for the fourth time in 2023, while Prieto was recognized by the league for the initial time this season.

Prieto battled the elements to capture the men's pole vault with a career-best outdoor mark of 17-075 (5.20m) at the Stan Romanoski Open on Saturday, March 18. His effort is a league-leading mark and stands as the No. 7 overall performance in the NCAA this spring and third-best in NCAA East Region.

The Zips return to competition this weekend traveling to Raleigh, N.C., to compete at the Raleigh Relays.
