LEXINGTON, Ky. - The 12th-rated University of Akron rifle team faced off against No. 5 Kentucky on Friday (Nov. 3) and No. 3 Ole Miss on Saturday (Nov. 4).

A total of five Zips broke into the 580's against Kentucky in the smallbore led by junior Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.), who fired a 587, she was followed closely by senior Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine) with a 586. In the air rifle, senior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio), lit up the board with a 595 score. At the end of the day, the Wildcats earned the win, 4714-4696.

Kirk proceeded with a 585 total in the smallbore to direct Akron versus Ole Miss. In the air rifle, the Zips' trio of Kirk, Perkowski and sophomore Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.) all posted 595 scores. With the addition of the 590 provided by fifth-year athlete Brendan Seitz (Milford, Mass.), the Zips finished the air gun division one point ahead of Ole Miss in a 4729-4699 setback.

The Zips return to competition hosting No. 11 Ohio State at 10:45 a.m. on Friday (Nov. 10) before battling No. 14 Army on Saturday (Nov. 11) at 8 a.m.
