AUSTIN, Texas - A trio of top-five outdoor program marks highlighted the efforts of the University of Akron men's and women's track and field teams on the second day of the Texas Relays on Thursday, March 24.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Senior Alyssa Thomas (Uniontown, Ohio) posted the third-fastest time in outdoor program history in the women's 5,000 meters crossing the line in a career-best time of 16:45.37.
• Freshman Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) equaled a career-best mark of 17-6.50 (5.35m) to place fourth in the men's pole vault. His effort matches the No. 4 mark in outdoor program history.
• Senior Jacob Ondash (Hiram, Ohio) registered a career-best time of 3:47.83 in the men's 1,500 to finish fourth in the fifth-fastest time in outdoor program history.
• Senior Hannah Long (Pacific, Mo.) garnered a career-best time of 4:26.88 in the women's 1,500 meters to earn a fourth-place finish.
