Arslanian Named 2022 Phil Steele Honorable Mention All-America Honoree

2022 PHIL STEELE HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICA TEAM
 
AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron football redshirt senior LB Bubba Arslanian (Aurora, Ohio) added to his impressive playing resume as Phil Steele tabbed him a 2022 Honorable Mention All-America honoree.
 
Arslanian becomes the first Zip to garner All-America laurels since Jabari Arthur in 2007.
 
Additionally, he was tabbed to the 2022 Phil Steele First-Team All-Mid-American Conference squad at linebacker.
 
A team captain, Arslanian earned All-MAC accolades for the second time in his decorated career this season, as he was named a first-team all-league honoree after turning in a dominant season as one of the premier linebackers in both the MAC as well as the NCAA in 2022, leading the defensive efforts for the Zips.
 
Becoming the fifth Akron linebacker to earn first-team league recognition, he is rated fourth in the NCAA this season in total tackles (11.0) and 25th in solo tackles (5.0).
 
Arslanian is also ranked fifth among active career leaders in the NCAA in total tackles per contest (8.41), sixth in total tackles (387), seventh in assisted tackles (200), 15th in solo tackles per tilt (4.07) and 16th in solo tackles (187). Additionally, he ranks 10th among active career leaders in the NCAA across all divisions in total tackles (387), 11th in assisted tackles (200), 36th in solo tackles (187) and 52nd in total tackles per game (8.41)
 
Arslanian leads the MAC in assisted tackles (44), while ranking second in tackles per game (11.0) and overall tackles (132), while adding 60 solo tackles. In MAC play, he rated first in the conference in assisted tackles (53), second in tackles per tilt (11.1) and total tackles (89) en route to posting 36 solo tackles.
 
Arslanian has had 10 or more total tackles in 25 of the last 34 games he has played in overall. Arslanian surpassed the 300-tackle plateau for his career against Bowling Green on Oct. 1, 2022.
