MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The University of Akron track and field team registered a pair of victories as part of nine overall top-five performances at the Mountaineer Twilight hosted by West Virginia on Saturday, May 1 in the Zips' final tune-up before next weekend's Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Senior Alyssa Thomas (Uniontown, Ohio) captured the women's 5,000 meters in a career-best time of 17:14.99.
Freshman Jimmy Harkelroad (Huron, Ohio) bested the field in the men's 400-meter hurdles in a career-best time of 53.15.
Senior Marquis Evans (Dayton, Ohio) placed second in the men's 400 meters in a time of 50.48, while freshman Anna Altstadt (Huntingburg, Ind.) finished second in the women's 100 meters crossing the line in 12.85.
Akron now turns its attention to the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 7-8, in Oxford, Ohio.

400 Meters: Marquis Evans (2nd-50.48); 100 Meters: Jayce Shaffer (4th-11:31*), Jack Weaver (5th-11.36), Tyler Grine (8th-11.76), Cody Lamb (9th-11.82); 400-Meter Hurdles: Jimmy Harkelroad (1st-53.15*), Steven Ashcraft (5th-57.87*), Matthew Perison (6th-58.08); 200 Meters: Jack Weaver (6th-22.93*), Cody Lamb (8th-23.00), Andrew Wahl (DNF)
