ASHLAND, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field sophomore William Gross (Newfane, N.Y.) registered a mark of 216-0 (65.85m) in the men's elite hammer to lead the Zips' efforts at the Ashland Alumni Open on Friday, April 23.

In the women's elite hammer, senior Emily Taylor (Mount Perry, Ohio) garnered a mark of 168-0 (51.22m).

Posting marks of 182-10 (55.74m), 171-7 (52.30m) and 171-3 (52.21m), respectively, in the men's hammer was redshirt junior Milton Wilson (Streetsboro, Ohio), junior Jacob Hutcherson (Uniontown, Ohio) and sophomore Jabari Neal-Jackson (Cincinnati, Ohio).

The Zips return to competition on Saturday, April 24, as the squad will participate in the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational in Baton Rouge, La., and the RedHawk Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
