Wilson to Represent USA at NACAC Under-23 Track and Field Championships

NACAC CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION | RESULTS
AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron senior Abigale Wilson (Carrollton, Ohio) is set to represent the USA Track and Field National Team in the women's discus at the 2019 North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Under-23 Championships to be held in Queretaro, Mexico this weekend, July 5-7.
Wilson will compete in the nine-women field in the discus at 8:05 p.m. ET on Friday, July 5.
Wilson drew her record-setting Zips' career to a close garnering second-team All-America accolades in the women's discus at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 8 with a mark of 179-0 (54.56m) to place 12th.
It represented the second All-America honor for Wilson, who earned honorable mention All-America accolades after placing 20th in the discus at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Wilson earned her second NCAA Outdoor Championship berth in the discus after registering a school- and league-record mark of 200-2 (61.02m), second-best throw in qualifying, at the NCAA East Preliminary Round (May 24). She captured the Mid-American Conference title in the discus with a mark of 180-8 (55.08m) at the MAC Championships (May 11), while placing second in the shot put with a season-best mark of 51-6.25 (15.70m).
Wilson capped her year recording nine top-10 efforts in the discus and six in the shot put. She won the discus at the MAC Championships (May 11), Campbell/Wright Invitational (May 4) and Bobcat Invitational (March 28) with marks of 180-8 (55.08m), 178-4 (54.37m) and 172-0 (52.44m), while finishing sixth in the discus at the Texas Relays (March 30) with a mark of 166-6 (50.76m).
Wilson won the shot put at the Jesse Owens Classic (April 27) with a mark of 50-11 (15.52m), while also placing second, second, third and third, respectively, in the event at the MAC Championships (May 10), Campbell/Wright Invitational (May 4), Northeast Ohio Quad (April 6) and Roadrunner Invitational (March 22) recording marks of 51-6.25 (15.70m), 51-5 (15.67m), 50-9.50 (15.48m) and 49-1.75 (14.98m). Additionally, she placed 15th in the shot put with a mark of 45-8.50 (13.93m) at the Texas Relays.
