STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Freshman Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) led the University of Akron women's golf team through 36 holes to a 624 (+48) at the Nittany Lion Invitation hosted by Penn State on Saturday.

Shah opened the event with a 2-over par 74 score and followed with a 77 (+5) second round. She mixed nine par scores with two birdies and an eagle. The 2-under ledger on the par-4 hole No. 1 marked Shah's first collegiate eagle. Shah added 12 pars and a birdie in round two for a the 151 (+7) total which ranks tied for 30th overall.

Senior Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio) followed in scoring for Akron with a 155 (+11), and senior Makayla Dull (Fremont, Ohio) ranks third on the squad with a 158 (+14). Rounding out the Zips' team scores were junior Allyson Wentworth (Stewartsville, N.J.) and sophomore Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) with a pair of 161 (+17) scores.

The final round of the 54-hole event at the par-72, 6,322-yard Penn State Blue Course is scheduled for a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Sunday. Washington currently leads the team race by four strokes with a 581 (+5) over host Penn State's 585 (+9) total. The Nittany Lions Sarah Willis, playing as an individual, leads the field at 6-under par 138 strokes.
