BOCA RATON, Fla. – Akron women's tennis incoming freshman Enya Forgaci (Boca Raton, Fla.) was named the recipient of the 2018 Chris Evert Academy Sportsmanship Award as a part of the annual Chris Evert Awards on Tuesday.
Â
The sportsmanship honor is the second consecutive for Forgaci who also took home the 2015 Fitness Award.
Â
"I'm proud of myself for being recognized as one of the athletes with the most ethics regarding sportsmanship," Forgaci said. "It is a good feeling to have all of my hard work pay off at the end of my four years at the Evert Academy."
Â
"We are extremely proud of Enya," UA tennis coach Brandon Padgett said. "Receiving this award only reiterates to us, the type of person that Enya is, and what we knew we were getting when we committed to bringing her to Akron.  We are truly looking forward to being on court with her his coming fall."
Â
Forgaci trained for four years at the Evert Academy, building her game to above a 9 UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) level. A four-time ITF Grade 4 doubles quarterfinalist, she was an ITF Grade 5 doubles semifinalist. In singles action, Forgaci was a two-time ITF Grade 5 quarterfinalist. She is ranked No. 33 in Florida, No. 74 in the Southeast, and No. 235 nationally. As a student at the K12 International Academy, she was a three-time academic excellence honoree. Forgaci was the recipient of the 2017 Sportsmanship Award from the Evert Academy. She plans to study biomedical engineering.
Â
"For the past four years, Enya has been a delight to work with," tennis legend Chris Evert said upon Forgaci's signing with Akron in January. "Her love and passion for the game were evident every single day she was at the Evert Tennis Academy. She not only has developed a solid all-court game, but her focus and desire are unmatched. Enya is an excellent and supportive team player who encourages and mentors the younger girls. I have no doubt she will bring leadership, spirit, and wisdom to Akron's college tennis team."
Â
Forgaci is one of five newcomers– joining Holland Long (Rochester, N.Y.), Olivia Myers (Belmont, Ohio), Claudia Cecilia Rosas Garcia (Gaudalajara, Mexico), and Alexis Steer (Powell, Ohio)–  that will join the Zips in the fall.
