Ludwig Named MAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK RELEASE
CLEVELAND, Ohio – University of Akron track and field junior Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) was tabbed by the Mid-American Conference as its Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, April 10.
A five-time honoree in 2018, Ludwig garnered weekly MAC accolades for the initial time during the outdoor campaign continuing his strong spring season capturing the men's pole vault at the Northeast Ohio Quad on Saturday surpassing 18-1.25 (5.53m). The victory was the second in three meets for Ludwig on the campaign.
Ludwig's selection represents the seventh time during the outdoor campaign (16th time overall) in which an Akron student-athlete has been honored with weekly MAC accolades in 2018 joining a list that includes; junior Lucy Bryan (Bristol, England) (Jan. 18, March 27), redshirt junior Jordan Latimer (Huber Heights, Ohio) (Feb. 6, April 3), Ludwig (Jan. 18, Jan. 30, Feb. 13, Feb. 20 and April 10), junior Dara Perry (Akron, Ohio) (Jan. 23, April 3) and seniors Jackie Siefring (Covington, Ohio) (Feb. 6 and March 27) and Kwadarrius Smith (Orlando, Fla.) (Jan. 18).
The Zips return to track traveling to Torrance, Calif., to compete in the Mt. Sac Relays, April 19-21.
