Zips Basketball to Play on ESPN2 at Kent State

CLEVELAND, Ohio –As part of the Mid-American Conference television package, the Akron-Kent State men's basketball game scheduled for March 3 has been selected as MAC wildcard game for national television broadcast by ESPN2, the league announced on Thursday.
The second scheduled Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge game remains on the original scheduled date and is to be aired by ESPN2 on Friday, March 3, at 9 p.m. ET from the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in Kent, Ohio.
Earlier this month the MAC announced that ESPN, the worldwide leader in sports, has selected the first installment of the Akron-Kent State rivalry to be aired by ESPNU on Friday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. from James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron, Ohio.
Under the guidance of 13th-year head coach Keith Dambrot, the Akron men's basketball team has already posted its 12th consecutive 20-win season. The Zips are currently 20-4 overall and 10-1 in MAC play, which leads the league by four games. In addition, Akron is currently riding a 29-game home-court winning streak at James A. Rhodes Arena, ranking as the second longest winning streak in NCAA Division I behind Oregon (40).
Akron will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich., to battle Eastern Michigan on ESPNU at the EMU Convocation Center on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. ET. The Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge is a rivalry between Akron and Kent State athletics departments, which includes all sports. Akron currently leads 3.5-1.5, earning points for wins by football (1.0), women's cross country (1.0), and Men's cross country (1.0).
