Akron, Ohio – The University of Akron men's basketball program will hold its annual Summer Classic Golf Outing, presented by FirstEnergy, on Friday, August 26, at Shale Creek Golf Club in Medina.
Due to the incredible amount of interest for the event, the golf outing will feature two flights, a morning session and afternoon session.
The morning session registration will begin at 6:45 a.m. with a shotgun start scheduled for 7:45 a.m. Lunch and awards festivities will follow around 12:45 p.m.
The afternoon session registration starts at noon with a shotgun start beginning at 2 p.m. Dinner and awards are scheduled for 6 p.m.
Every year, the Summer Classic Golf Outing provides a great opportunity to spend time with alumni, friends, and fans while playing a beautiful golf course and visiting with 13th-year head coach Keith Dambrot and the Zips basketball coaching staff.
Registration for the event is now open and the deadline is Friday, August 19.
Everyone has an opportunity to help the men's basketball program continue to be one of the premier mid-major programs in the country. There are many ways for fans and sponsors to participate, from playing as part of a foursome to participating in sponsorship opportunities.
The cost is $175 per golfer, which includes golf, range, cart, lunch, on-course beverages, tee prize package and dinner.
The men's basketball alumni rate of $135 is available for Varsity "A" members. Basketball alumni who are not a member of the Varsity "A" Association can register for $165, which includes payment of a Varsity "A" Association membership for one year.
