Ohio's Taylor Saxton reached on a fielder's choice, swiped second base, moved over to third on a ground out to the freshman Cassie Gillespie (Sylvania, Ohio) and scored on an error on by the Zips.
The Zips did not trail for long as Akron came back in the top of the second inning to tie up the ball game at one. Fruin and junior Carley Childress (Belknap, Ill.) hit a pair of singles to put runners on first and second. Fredericks stood in the box with one out and poked a RBI single into left field and Fruin was able to score after being waved home.

Fruin drew a seven pitch walk to lead off the inning and Fredericks singled to right field with two outs moving Fruin to third. But that's all the Zips would do stranding both runners on the base path.
