Barber set to compete at Canadian Track and Field Championships

AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron junior pole vaulter Shawn Barber (Kingwood, Texas) returns to action this week competing at the Canadian Track and Field Championships, Thursday through Sunday, July 2-5, in Edmonton, Alberta.
In his first competition since capturing his third NCAA title overall and second during the 2015 campaign on June 10 at the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore., Barber enters the championship this weekend eyeing his third consecutive Canadian national title.
Barber won the 2014 crown clearing 18-2.50 (5.55m), while surpassing 17-8.50 (5.40m) in 2013 to claim the championship.
Perform has been an understatement for Barber this season as he won 17 of the 19 competitions he competed in, including winning outdoor titles at the Drake, Mt. Sac and Texas Relays, respectively, and owns two of the top-four jumps in the world this spring.
The pole vault competition is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, at 2:00 p.m. ET.
