Trio of first-place finishes highlight Zips' efforts at Cal State LA Twilight Open

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Akron track and field squad earned three first-place finishes to spark the Zips' efforts at the Cal State Los Angeles Twilight Open on Thursday, April 16.
Winning the women's 100-meter hurdles in 13.96 was senior Skyler Willis (Cincinnati, Ohio), while senior Claudia Garcia Jou (Barcelona, Spain) surpassed 5-10.50 (1.79m) to take home the title in the women's high jump.
Freshman Jamir Coleman (Lima, Ohio) captured the men's long jump with a mark of 22-5.25 (6.84m).
Fellow freshman Jordan Latimer (Huber Heights, Ohio) turned in a second-place effort in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.65.
Additionally, senior Bryce Lemon (New Brighton, Pa.) and redshirt sophomore Mike Ohiembor (Dayton, Ohio) finished second in the javelin (198-4/60.45m) and triple jump (47-10/14.58m).
The Zips return to action on Friday, April 17, competing at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational.

100-Meter Hurdles: Skyler Willis (first-13.96); Long Jump: Ana Martin-Sacristan (seventh-18-0.50/5.50m), Weronika Gaudyn (10th-17-4.25/5.29m); High Jump: Claudia Garcia Jou (first-5-10.50/1.79m), Skyler Willis (ninth-5-0.50/1.54m).
MEN'S RESULTS:
110-Meter Hurdles: Jordan Latimer (second-14.65); 100-Meters: Jamir Coleman (14th-11.09); Long Jump: Jamir Coleman (first-22-5.25/6.84m); Triple Jump: Mike Ohiembor (second-47-10.00/14.58m); High Jump: Mitch Cavalier (fifth-6-3.50/1.92m); Javelin: Bryce Lemon (second-198-04/60.45m).
