Cooks earns second-place mark at Hammers and Hot Dogs competition

NORWALK, Calif. - Senior Alexis Cooks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) garnered a second-place performance to direct the efforts of the Akron track and field squad at the Hammers and Hot Dogs competition as part of the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday, April 16.
Cooks registered a throw of 187-10 (57.25m) to finish second, while redshirt junior Megan Dornisch (St. Mary's, Pa.) tossed the hammer 177-00 (53.96m) to place fifth.
In the men's hammer, redshirt junior Zack Shull (Columbus, Ohio) and sophomore Phil Jagers (Solon, Ohio) recorded marks of 174-4 and 162-3 to finish 15th and 20th, respectively.
The Zips return to action on Friday, April 17, competing at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational.
