CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced on Sunday that the Akron Zips' home contest against the Ohio Bobcats will air on ESPNU on Friday, February 27, as part of the league's men's basketball television package.
The game, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, will tip off at 8 p.m. ET at James A. Rhodes Arena and will be the 12th game for the Zips on the ESPN family of networks.
The meeting will be the second of two regular-season contests between Akron (16-7, 7-3 MAC) and Ohio (9-12, 4-6 MAC). Ohio won the first meeting, 83-82, in Athens on February 4. That contest aired on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and ESPN3 as part of the MAC's men's basketball television package.
With the addition of the Ohio game, the Zips will play on television in 6-of-8 games in the month of February.
The Zips conclude a two-game home stand on Tuesday, Feb. 10, against neighborhood rival Kent State as part of the PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge. The contest will also be the 28th-straight on television between the Zips and Golden Flashes, the longest streak in the MAC between two league opponents.
Tip off between the Zips and Golden Flashes is set for 7 p.m. at Rhodes Arena, and the contest will also air on TWCS and ESPN3.
