FINDLAY, Ohio - Akron women's track and field seniors Alexis Cooks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Brittany Funk (Jeromesville, Ohio) garnered second- and fifth-place performances, respectively, in the elite weight throw competition at the Findlay Open on Friday, Jan. 30.
Cooks earned a second-place showing with a throw of 69-8.25, while Funk placed fifth with a heave of 68-1.75. The duo currently owns the second- and third-best throws in the nation this season in the weight throw.
Additionally, in the elite shot put, Cooks registered a throw of 46-7.25.
