Women's Track and Field Places Eight Individuals on All-Academic List, Named All-Academic Team

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's track and field team placed eight student-athletes on the All-Academic Individuals List by the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week.
Earning All-Academic honors for the 2013-14 season from UA were Claire Lucas (4.00, Finance), Ariane Beaumont-Courteau (4.00, Dietics), Caroline Hasse (3.95, Psychology), Jessica Delic (3.73, Nursing), Gabriela Szkolnicka (3.67, Interior Design), Rebecca Szabo (3.46, Chemical Engineering), Weronika Gaudyn (3.41, Fashion Merchandising), and Daniella Johnson (3.25, Accounting).
Earning a team GPA of 3.00 or higher, the women's track and field team earned All-Academic honors as a group with a GPA of 3.34.
In all, a total of 727 women from 193 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
- For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
Runners-up of both the 2014 Mid-American Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships, UA crowed its fifth female individual national champion in school history when sophomore Annika Roloff captured the NCAA Outdoor Pole Vault title in Eugene, Ore. in June.
