Women's Golf Ends Day One of Rain-Soaked Colonel Classic in Ninth Place

RICHMOND, Ky. – A six-hour rain delay wiped out one of two rounds on Friday as the Akron Zips ended day one of the 2014 Colonel Classic in ninth place.
Rain was the story so far for the event as Friday's 36-hole schedule was cut to just 18 holes after a near six-hour delay. After the delay, the field battled wet conditions, with only 18 of 73 players carding rounds under 80.
The Zips posted a score of 330 (+42) and are just four shots out of the top five. Host Eastern Kentucky leads the field by two strokes after posting a round of 313 (+25).
Frida Fougberg and Mallory Etcheberry ended the day in the top-25, closing play in a tie for 19th and a tie for 23rd, respectively. Fougberg carded an 8-over 80 while Etcheberry posted a round of 81 (+9).
Sara Chaves finished the round just one shot outside of the top 25, carding a 10-over 82 to end play in a tie for 28th place.
Laura Murray is tied for 56th place after posting a score of 87 (+15) while Sierra Everson closed out the scoring-five in a tie for 69th place (92, +20).
Whitney Graff, playing as an individual, is tied for 52nd place after shooting a 14-over 86.
Saturday's final is set to begin at 10 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. Fans can follow the event live via Golfstat Live Scoring.
