RIO VERDE, Ariz. – Poor playing conditions and illness were the stories of the day for the Zips on day two of the 12th Annual Rio Verde Invitational as Akron closed play in 16th place on Saturday.
Windy conditions made scoring difficult for the entire field as the average round score climbed nearly two strokes on Saturday. The Zips posted a round of 334 (+50) on the day to finish in 16th place with a 36-hole tally of 640 (+72). Xavier took over the top spot on the leaderboard with a two-day score of 601 (+33).
Illness was the other story as Lina Bengtsson and Sierra Everson were forced to withdraw from the round prior to the start of play.
Frida Fougberg ended play inside the top-25, posting a round of 9-over 80 to finish in a tie for 18th place (152, +10).
Sara Chaves is in a tie for 58th place with a tally of 160 (+18) after he round of 83 (+12). Laura Murray also posted a round of 12-over 83 on the day to finish tied for 66th place (162, +20).
Mallory Etcheberry in 87th place after posting a round of 17-over 88. She will open the final round on Sunday with a 36-hole score of 169 (+27).
Play will conclude on Sunday, with the final round scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. Fans can follow all the action live via Golfstat Live Scoring.
