AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team will transition into its outdoor season this week as it sends more than 50 athletes to three meets – including the 87th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
The action begins Wednesday at the Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas in Austin. The prestigious meet, which will feature more than 6,500 athletes from 32 states and nine countries, will once again draw strong representation from across the nation and the world among the high school, collegiate and professional ranks.
In all, 11 Zips will make the trip to the Lone Star State, including 2014 NCAA Indoor Pole Vault Champion and Texas native Shawn Barber, who will compete in the pole vault invitational Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Joining Barber at the Texas Relays will be fellow 2014 All-Americans Brittany Funk (hammer throw), Weronika Gaudyn (triple jump), Alex McCune (110m hurdles, pole vault) and Annika Roloff (pole vault) as well as Daryl Baptiste (long jump), Alexis Cooks (shot put and discus), Megan Dornisch (hammer), Claire Lucas (pole vault), Ana Martin-Sacristan (100m and long jump) and Skyler Willis (100m and 400m hurdles).

Of that group, seven will also compete at the Bobcat Invitational, hosted by Texas State in San Marcos, this week, including Baptiste (200m and long jump), McCune (shot put and javelin), Cooks (shot put and discus), Dornisch (shot put and hammer), Funk (hammer), Martin-Sacristan (100m and long jump) and Willis (400m hurdles).
