OCALA, Fla. – The Akron Zips women's golf team concluded the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational in 13th place on Tuesday at the par-72, 6,113-yard Juliette Falls Golf Resort.
The Zips posted a final-round 323 (+35) to finish the event with a 54-hole total of 943 (+79). Daytona State led wire-to-wire to win the event with a tally of 889 (+25).
Lina Bengtsson and Frida Fougberg led the way for the Zips, finishing in a tie for 39th place with identical three-round scores of 232 (+16). Bengtsson posted a final-round 79 (+7) while Fougberg carded an 81 (+9).
Sara Chaves ended the week in a tie for 60th place (239, +23) after posting a 12-over 84 on Tuesday.
Laura Murray and Mallory Etcheberry finished tied for 65th and 78th, respectively. Murray closed the day with a round of 80 (+8) to finish with a score of 241 (+25) while Etcheberry's score of 11-over 83 gave her a 54-hole tally of 247 (+31).
Whitney Graff, playing as an individual, carded a round of 11-over 83 to finish in 86th place (253, +37).
Akron will return to action on Friday, April 4, when the squad travels to Richmond, Ky., for the EKU Colonel Classic.
