Women's Golf Closes Fall Schedule in a Tie for Sixth at Rocket Classic

PORT CLINTON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's golf team closed out its fall schedule in a tie for sixth place following the final round the Rocket Classic on Tuesday at the par-72, 5,929-yard Catawba Island Club.
The Zips finished the tournament with a three-round score of 949 (+85) to finish tied with Detroit. Mid-American Conference foe and tournament host Toledo won the event with a two-day tally of 891 (+27)
Frida Fougberg and Lina Bengtsson led the way for the Zips, with both posting top-20 finishes. Fougberg climbed 13 spots on day two thanks to a round of 3-over 75 to finish in a tie for 14th place (233, +17). Bengtsson closed out a solid fall campaign in 18th place (234, +18) after a final-round 77 (+5).
Sara Chaves and Laura Murray ended the fall slate in a tie for 35th place with identical 54-hole scores of 241 (+25). Chaves carded a 12-over 84 while Murray post an 8-over 80.
Sierra Everson rounded out the scoring-five in 77th place (266, +50).
Mallory Etcheberry and Lesli Stolly – both playing as individuals – ended the tournament in a tie for 67th (254, +38) and tied for 72nd (258, +42), respectively. The event was the first in Stolly's collegiate career.
The Zips return to action at the first Mid-American Conference Match Play event, which is set for February 3-4, 2014, in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
