UA's Hough Named MAC Track Athlete of the Week
March 28 | Track & Field
AKRON, Ohio – After nearly rewriting the school record books last weekend, University of Akron sophomore Brad Hough has been named Mid-American Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Hough came just fractions of a second from setting a school record last Friday in winning the 5,000 meters at the prestigious LSU Relays in Baton Rouge, La. Hough, who shattered Akron's record in the 3,000 meter during the indoor season, smoked the competition with a winning time of 14:28.73, which stands as the 12th-best mark in the nation entering the week.
The mark was more than 11 full seconds faster than TAMU's Kiya Dandena, who came in second with a mark of 14:39.81, and fell just short of breaking Scott Meyers' UA milestone of 14:28.34.
Although Hough did not make the trip, 10 of his UA teammates are in Austin, Texas, for the 85th running of the Texas Relays. For a complete schedule and more information about the Texas Relays, please visit TexasSports.com.
