Men?s Basketball Falls 82-47 at Temple

The University of Akron men's basketball team dropped an 82-47 decision to the Temple Owls on Sunday.
Alex Abreu led the Zips (4-3) with a career-high 11 points while Steve McNees also had 11 points.
For the game, Akron shot 29.5 percent (18-for-61) while Temple (7-2) shot 55.7 percent from the field (34-for-61).
Akron opened the second half making five of its first 13 shots (38.5 percent), but was unable to cut the lead as Temple would hold a 54-30 advantage with 11:41 left in the game.
The Zips and Owls traded buckets early in the half before Temple began to pull away. With the scored tied 10-10 with 14:27 left in the half, Temple used a 14-2 run over the next 4:10 to take a 24-12 lead with 10:17 on the clock.
The Owls continued to apply the pressure, holding Akron to just five points over the final 14:27 of the opening frame to take a 40-15 lead into the locker room. Akron shot 20.0 percent from the floor (6-for-30) while Temple finished the half shooting 63.0 percent (17-for-27).
McNees led the Zips with six points while Zeke Marshall pitched in with four points in the opening half.
The Zips close out this four-game road trip when they travel to Minneapolis, Minn., to face the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Dec. 15. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
Zips Notebook: Sophomore center Zeke Marshall recorded his sixth multi-block game of the season (21st of his career) and passed David Mason (1979-80, 80-81) for sixth place on the career blocks list (78) ... the loss snapped a two-game road winning streak.
