Men?s Basketball Adds Adedeji Ibitayo to 2011-12 Class

University of Akron men's basketball head coach Keith Dambrot announced on Thursday that Rich Central High School (Ill.) senior Adedeji "Deji" Ibitayo has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Zips starting in the 2011-12 season.
"Deji is a big, diversified guard that can play anywhere on the floor," Dambrot said. "He is a great athlete that has the potential to be a good scorer and a lock down defender."
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Ibitayo helped RCHS into the state playoffs as a junior. He averaged 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and four blocks per game last season. He also boasts a 6-foot-9 wingspan.
Ibitayo joins Peebles High School (Ohio) senior Blake Justice in the Zips' 2011-12 incoming class. Justice signed his national letter of intent on Nov. 10. The signing of both players concludes Akron's commitments during the early signing period, which runs through Nov. 17.
The Zips will open the regular season this Friday, Nov. 12, when they play host to Millikin at Rhodes Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
