Opening Statement:
"That game was an exact replica of the Austin Peay game. We were
up 13 points at one point and had several easy, wide-open baskets
and didn't make any of them. So, instead of being ahead by 17 to 20
points, we are only up by 10 or 12 and never put them away. We then
allowed Arkansas-Pine Bluff to drive on us and make the game much
closer than it should have been."
On Akron's line up and rotation:
"We have three guards that have all played in big games. Brett
McClanahan was fair and Jimmy Conyers played well. Chris McKnight
is struggling the same way he did early last season. Nikola
(Cventinovic) competes hard, but right now he is very erratic.
Hitchens had zero points in the first half, but then carried the
team early in the second half. We will never win (by large margins)
until he becomes more consistent on both ends of the floor."
On the play of the defense:
"Our defense was terrible in the beginning, good in the middle, and
terrible at the end of the game, again. That is very typical of
this team right now. We are very inconsistent and that must improve
in order for us to get better."
