Akron’s Amber Kern Recognized on Preseason All-MAC Team by College Sports Madness
AKRON, Ohio – Junior defender Amber Kern of the Akron women's soccer team has been named a first team preseason All-Mid-American Conference selection by College Sports Madness.
Kern was named a second team All-MAC selection as a sophomore in 2011 when she started all 18 matches in the center of the UA defense. She led a unit that recorded eight shutouts, including five straight in the middle of the season. For her career, Kern has started 35 of the 37 games she has appeared in.
Akron's first regular-season match is this Friday, Aug. 17 at 5 p.m. against Morehead State at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field.

Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets).
Single-game tickets start at $6 for General Admission, while the Single-Game Family Plan is $20 (General Admission seating). Season tickets are $40. UA students with valid ID will be admitted free of charge.
Akron finished last season with a record of 7-9-2 overall and 4-5-2 in the Mid-American Conference. The Zips, who return seven starters and 20 letter winners, are 11-3-1 in MAC East play since 2009 and have qualified for the last three MAC Tournaments.
