AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron softball program has postponed its fourth annual UA TEAMMATES FOR LIFE camp that was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1. The camp will now be held on Sunday, April 21, 2013 prior to the Zips' Mid-American Conference matchup against Ohio at Lee R. Jackson Softball Field.
Young softball players will have the opportunity to receive instruction from current Akron players and coaches, and will be treated to lunch before the game. More information will be posted on GoZips.com as it becomes available.
The TEAMMATES FOR LIFE Camp was initiated by former Zips softball players from the 1981-84 teams, as well as their former head coach Joey Arietta, to help benefit former Zip Deann Viebranz. These "teammates for life" consistently put together a great clinic from which ALL PROCEEDS will benefit Viebranz's second battle with breast cancer and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
Questions regarding the camp can be directed to J.J. Thornberry at 330-972-8168 or jjt27@uakron.edu.
