AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron football team was in full pads on Tuesday morning for a two-plus hours practice inside Stile Athletics Field House.

Following the workout, first-year head coach Terry Bowden shared some insight.

Today was the seventh of 15 practices allowed by the NCAA leading up to the annual Spring Game presented by Penn Station on East Exchange Street near campus. The game will be played on Saturday, April 21 at 3 p.m. ET at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field. The squad will take to the field on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays prior to that event.

Akron opens the 2012 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 30 at home versus UCF.

Zips Notebook: Tyrell Goodman, who signed with UA in February 2011 and grayshirted last year, worked out with the WRs today. He spent the previous six practices throwing with the QBs. He will be a true freshman for the 2012 season ... tomorrow, UA head coach Terry Bowden will be a guest on a special edition of Zips Live, which will air from 7-8 p.m. ET at the Winking Lizard Tavern in nearby Fairlawn (25 Ghent Road) and be broadcast on Akron-IMG Sports Network flagship SportsRadio 1350 AM (WARF) ... tonight, Bowden is scheduled to give a leadership talk to management members of FirstEnergy Corp., at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Pennsylvania ... Bowden announced after today's practice that senior DE Hasan Hazime and sophomore-to-be RB Karl Bostick have officially left the program. Hazime, who completed his undergraduate degree in December, had been rehabbing a knee injury suffered three games into last season and was participating in graduate school this semester at UA. Bostick played in nine games as a true freshman in 2011, rushing for 82 yards on 27 carries.
