2018 SPRING PROSPECTUS

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Zips, under the guidance of seventh-year head coach Terry Bowden, ushered in the first day of spring with their first practice session on Monday.

The team will practice through Thursday before taking next week off to enjoy spring break before resuming spring drills on April 3.

Joining the Zips this spring are five students that enrolled in classes in January– DL Eric Bentley (Akron, Ohio), S Reggie Corner, Jr. (Canton, Ohio), DB Rich Hall (Pompano Beach, Fla.), OL Bryce Petersen (McKinleyville, Calif.), and RB Keyondre White (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). Akron returns 58 letterwinners, including 15 starters, to its spread offense and 4-3 defense. [spring roster and preseason depth chart are included in 2018 Spring Prospectus]

Redshirt senior WR Mykel Traylor-Bennett (Columbus, Ohio) returns to the line-up after missing last season with an injury. Seven Zips are rehabbing from injuries and will not participate in spring drills.

Akron, which finished the 2017 season with appearances in the MAC Championship game and the Boca Raton Bowl, opens the 2018 season at Nebraska on Sept. 1. The home opener is slated for Sept. 8 against Morgan State.

The Zips' annual Spring Game is slated for Saturday, April 21, at Noon at InfoCision Stadium– Summa Field. Admission is FREE.

Season ticket plans—which include a ticket to all home games as well as a parking pass— start at only $60 each. For fans wishing to purchase new season tickets for the 2018 season, the Ticket Office is currently taking non-refundable deposits of $25/seat. As a season ticket holder, fans have the ability to purchase tickets for road games at Nebraska, Northwestern, and Iowa State.
