LINCOLN, Neb.- The University of Akron rifle team dropped to No. 10 Nebraska in last weekend's dual, 4,661- 4,640, inside the Nebraska Rifle Range.

Despite trailing in the smallbore completion, 2,308- 2,287, the Zips tied Nebraska in the air rifle portion of the meet with a score of 2,353.

In the smallbore event, the duo of sophomore Anthony Jackson (Seven Valleys, Pa.) and junior Caleb Lloyd (Seven Valleys, Pa.) led the Zips' squad with a score of 574. Sophomore Kera Kaufman (Delmont, SD) was right in the mix with a 572 score, followed by sophomore Lauryn Cinadr (Brunswick, Ohio) who broke into the fourth slot for the Zips and shot a new personal-best of 568.

Cinadr also led the air rifle portion of the meet with a 589 and broke the tie breaker with junior Rebecca Green (Coventry, RI.) who also shot a 589. Freshman sharpshooter Wyatt Openshaw (Parkon, MD) was a close third for the Zips with a 588 score, with sophomore Cierra Terrizzi (Dallastown, Pa.) close behind shooting a 587 score.

The Zips hit the road again as they travel to the Virginia Military Institute to take on VMI, Navy, and Air Force on Sunday, Feb. 11. Akron will be on the line against VMI at 1:15 p.m.
