BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Three members of the Akron women's swimming and diving team competed in the three-meter event on day one of the NCAA Zone "C" Diving Championships on Thursday, March 9 at Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center on the campus of Indiana University.
All 48 divers took part in preliminaries with the top 18 advancing to the finals. The top nine finishers in the event advanced to the NCAA Championships that will be held, March 15-18 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Senior Paige Kelkenberg (Lockport, N.Y.) placed 16th overall in the event with a combined score of 533.75 points.
In preliminary action, Kelkenberg posted a tally of 262.05 to sit 17th, while senior Rachel Aepelbacher (Novi, Mich.) finished 30th with a score of 235.30 points and sophomore Karly Crail (Edgewood, Ky.) turned in a 31st place effort with 233.65 points.
One-meter diving is slated for tomorrow, March 10, at 1 p.m. All divers will again take part in preliminaries with the top 18 advancing to the finals and the top eight overall finishers in the event will earn a qualifying berth to the NCAA Championships.
