Dallas, Texas – The Akron Zips women's golf team climbed two spots on the team leaderboard during the final round of the Bradley Spring Invite on Tuesday. Akron fired a final round 296 (+12) team tally en route to a 924 (+72) 54-hole total at the par-71, 5,921 yard Brookhaven Country Club.
Sophomore Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio) and senior Pader Her (Holt, Mich.) turned in 1-over par 72 scores to lead the Zips' scoring. Nicholson finished the tournament with a 218 (+5) tournament total while claiming runner-up honors.
Her finished the 54-hole event with a 228 (+15) effort, landing 10th on the leaderboard. Sophomore Makayla Dull (Fremont, Ohio) followed in scoring for Akron, recording a 240 (+27) tree-round total, to finish 33rd overall.
Senior Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva (Guadalajara, Mexico) finished 39th with a 245 (+32), while freshman Allyson Wentworth (Stewartsville, N.J.). bounced back with a 79 (+8) final round score for a 43rd place finish at 248 (+35).
Northern Illinois swept top honors as the team posted a 19-stroke victory with an 890 (+39) team score. NIU's Brielle Ward led every round, finishing as medalist with a 5-under par 208 total.
The Akron women's golf team will be back in action on Sunday through Tuesday, March 19-21, ad RedTail Golf Club for the MSU Citrus Challenge in Sorrento, Fla.
