AZUSA, Calif. - University of Akron junior Jackie Siefring (Covington, Ohio) got off to a strong start in the heptathlon at the Mt. Sac Relays/California Invitational Combined Events on Wednesday, April 12, recording a four-event cumulative score of 3,359 to stand in fourth place.
Siefring opened her competition posting the top time in her heat, 14.01, and fifth-best overall in the 100-meter hurdles.
She followed registering a season-best mark of 5-4.25 (1.63m) in the high jump before launching a career-long throw of 40-10.50 (12.46m) in the shot put.
In the finale of day-one competition, Seifring crossed the line in 24.65 to finish fifth in the 200 meters. Her time was the best in her heat and fifth overall.
Siefring will close out final-day competition at the Mt. Sac Relays/California Invitational Combined Events on Thursday, April 13. The long jump will open action at 4 p.m. ET and will be followed by the javelin and 800 meters at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. ET, respectively.
